CME GLOBEX RECAP: On Monday, the corn, soybean, and wheat markets ended
lower as traders considered the favorable crop weather in South America. Corn,
hard red winter wheat, and soft red winter wheat basis were steady, while
soybean and spring wheat basis were stronger on Monday. Of all the datasets
released on Monday, perhaps the most pressure came from NOPA's soybean crush
total for November, which was down 5% from a month ago, while soybean oil
stocks reached their highest level since mid-2024. Chinese purchases of U.S.
soybeans in late November were head and shoulders above any other buyer.
Traders still weigh the current bearish crop weather in Brazil ahead of demand
signals. If reported today, flash export sales will be announced at 8 a.m. CST.
Macroeconomic reports for Tuesday include the U.S. employment report for
November, including the unemployment rate, along with wage data at 7:30 a.m.
CST.
OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial
Average down 41.49 at 48,416.56 and the S&P 500 down 10.90 at 6,816.51. The
10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.182%. Early Tuesday, the December Dow Jones
Futures are down 74 points. European markets are lower, with the spot futures
of London's FTSE 100 trading down 0.56%, spot futures of Germany's DAX are
trading down 0.5% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index are down 0.13%.
